HOWTO: Setup an EMail Program |
HTML module |
This document covers the basic settings required to setup any standard email program to check the email accounts on your domain. I *STRONGLY* urge you to stay away from Outlook and Outlook Express email clients. They are full of vulnerabilities and are often targeted specificaly by viruses. For that matter, Incredimail seems to me that it is just a version of Outlook Express with some visual customizations. The Mozilla browser, by the same name, has an excellent email program built into it. Mozilla Thunderbird and Pegasus Mail clients are excellent, free, stand-alone mail clients, as well. To get more information about any of these programs, click their names. General Email Settings: The following list of settings assumes that domain.com is actually replaced by whatever your domain or website address is. Email Address: username@domain.com Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.domain.com Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.domain.com Be sure to enable Outgoing Mail or SMTP Authentication so you will be able to send mail. If you are unsure how to do this, try one of the links above to see some examples of how other mail-clients do this. Account Name or Username: username@domain.com Password: YourPasswordSSL: No.
